A BIG START FOR OCTOBER THIS WEEKEND WITH KELPIES MAQUETTES –RE-LOVED CLOTHING EXTRAVAGANZA AT BURGH HALL POP UP SHOP & CONCERTS

The month that plays host to Cowal-Fest and the new Dunoon Ultra Marathon and Relay and much more starts with the arrival of the magnificent mini Kelpies. The Kelpies Maquettes are 3 metre high (10ft) horses heads sculptures hand crafted by renowned Scottish sculptor Andy Scott.

There will be an opening ceremony on Saturday 1st October from 5.30pm to 8.00pm (depending on darkness) when, with thanks to the Rotary Club Dunoon and their compatriots down South, the Kelpies will be lit up.

Derek McIntyre

The opening ceremony will be  presented by Dunoon’s Derek McIntyre who will introduce David Hayman the Scottish film, television, stage actor and director, famously known for his role as DCS Mike Walker in the ITV drama Trial & Retribution who will be the guest of honour and perform the opening ceremony. In keeping with the theme it is hoped that there will be visits by Margaret Eccle’s Shetland ponies and there may even be Police Horses on duty.

The hallmarks of a ‘Swing 2016’ bands concert are great musicianship allied to an exhilarating approach to the classics of the swing jazz era.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       They love to play the music of the great jazz composers, Django Reinhardt, Count Basie, Fats Waller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and others, arranged and introduced by the band.
