Skerryvore will be headlining the  Gig in the Goil 2017. Formed in Tiree, the Scottish Celtic Rock group pull large crowds across the world, and were recently crowned “Live Band of the Year” at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards – we can’t wait to welcome them to Lochgoilhead as one of our headliners.

Fronted by award-winning former Skipinnish singer Robert RobertsonTide Lines are a four piece band driven by acoustic and electric guitars, but heavily influenced by traditional music. Their first single, “Far Side of the World”, entered the UK download charts ahead of Coldplay and Beyoncé, and the group are known for their incredible live performances – they will grace our main stage as Saturday night’s headliners.

Recently crowned “Scottish Dance Band of the Year” at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards, Trail West also join this year’s Gig in the Goil line-up.  The group from Tiree & South Uist are always known to fill a dancefloor with their trademark West Coast sound, and we look forward to some great tunes & craic from the guys as they make their mark on Lochgoilhead!

Joining them will be Heron Valley. The young trad act from Strachur are bursting with energy and were one of the most requested bands to come back to Lochgoilhead after their performance at last year’s festival – they’ll perform two sets over the weekend.

ClannAnDrumma

Clann an Drumma are famous for bringing Scottish tribal music to worldwide audiences, and went down a storm at GITG 2016, both with their main stage performance, and their impromptu Fireside set – they’ll return to play the Sunday evening.

Dubbed the “most exciting bagpipe pop band on the scene” the mini Rollin Drones graced the stage at The Wee G with their high energy set – and will return in May with their full 7-piece band, as the last date on their European tour.

Gunner Sound

Joining the Tiree contingent on the line-up are the fantasticDCR97.4FM Favourites  Gunna Sound. Led by Campbell Brown & Johnny Scoular, the duo are one of the very best ceilidh acts in Scotland. They are set to fill the GITG dancefloor with a combination of Pipe Music, Country and Western, Gaelic songs and Scottish Dances, plus Scottish and Irish classics.

Described as “an ideal festival band with stacks of energy” Have Mercy Las Vegas have gone from strength to strength. Their rowdy and eclectic mix of folk and blues, with a Celtic flair has earned them rave reviews of their studio material. However it’s the live performances that make HMLV stand out, where they can fully show off their range of original songs, from the foot stomping hoe downs, to the harmonious laments.

Hailing from Dundee, The Graham Brown Band is a Scottish rock/pop band with a very unique sound. Comprised of seven top musicians with experience of playing across Europe, their latest EP “The Lion’s Roar” was released in January to critical acclaim, with the bagpipe-infused Celtic Rock band creating an essential party atmosphere wherever they go. The group are bursting with pride and energy, and can’t wait to get the crowds dancing at Gig in the Goil.

The country’s finest Paolo Nutini tribute act – Paolo Notini will also perform at this year’s event. With his vocals, mannerisms and stage presence down to a fine art, this is the only authentic tribute who plays LIVE guitar to Paolo’s biggest hits. Expect to hear all of Paolo’s early right up to his latest chart material.

The Brambles

We’re also delighted to welcome the best in local talent to our Festival this year. The Brambelles – from just over the hills in Strachur – offer a stunning blend of two-part harmonies across a wide range of genres, providing the perfect soundtrack to your Sunday afternoon. Rhuvaal – from Campbeltown – and Turas from Oban, are two young traditional acts set for big things and know how to fill a dancefloor, while Inverary’s Holly Renton is an award-winning singer, set to charm the audience with her arrangements of popular songs.

Bar None Community Choir is Lochgilphead and Mid Argyll’s exciting community choir. Led by musical director Stephen Povey and accompanied by Struan Thorpe on guitar, the choir sing an eclectic range of popular songs by artists such as Skipinnish, Stereophonics, Bon Iver and Elbow – the perfect start to your Sunday afternoon.

The Hur

Also joining our Main Stage are one of the hottest new traditional bands The Hur, who have just released their fantastic debut single ‘Still Standing’, contemporary Livingston folk band 5 Strings, back by popular demand after their set at The Wee G, Greenock folk duo Tartan Sound, and young indie/trad act The Barrels.

Once again the Fireside Sessions returns to Gig in the Goil, featuring the best acoustic music in an intimate setting. Former Dead Sea Souls frontman Gary Burns brings his solo project to Lochgoilhead, with big harmonies and singalongs, along with Stirling Singer-Songwriter Robbie Hutton. The popular Mark Sharp – from Whitburn – also returns, alongside upcoming artists Mariyana, Harry Bircher & Ross Whelan, with many more to be announced. Expect plenty of singalongs!

There’s also something for the kids – We’re pleased to welcome the Talking Heads Puppet Show back to Lochgoilhead, as well as our very own Rusty & Rosie Go Nuts. But that’s not all – keep an eye out for more children’s entertainment in the coming months!
