Over the years there have been initiatives and incentives to introduce Scottish youngsters to their Celtic Heritage even here in Dunoon there have been many events to give “awareness” in all aspects of the Celtic Heritage and before it closed for refurbishment the Dunoon Burgh Hall had been involved through many events and workshops to promote Celtic Heritage through music, dance, drama workshops and performance with youth participation.

One of Scotland’s best kept secrets in educating and promoting Celtic Culture is the Celtic Connections Educational Programme which will for Celtic Connections 2017 bring over 11, 000 children from across Scotland to take part in Celtic Connections 2017 Education Programme with Free morning concerts for schools by leading Scottish and international musicians, and workshops in schools led by Celtic artists, giving  pupils invaluable opportunities to learn about, take part in and enjoy traditional music a very important part of Scottish culture.

Since it began in 1998 the annual Celtic Connections Education Programme has reached more than 200,000 children across the country.

During this time school parties have travelled to Glasgow from throughout Scotland to attend schools concerts, including Argyll and Bute, Dumfries and Galloway and Fife and for many of the children this is their first experience of live music in a professional venue.
