DUNOON BOOK FESTIVAL 28th TO 30TH OCTOBER 2016

 A full weekend of top Scottish literary talent including local writers, illustrators and poets will be attending the prestigious Dunoon Book Festival this weekend on the beautifully refurbished Dunoon Pier, including the Scots Makar, Jackie Kay and local poets Marion McCready and Tariq Latif . The full programme has something for all ages and taste and Once again this year you can buy a ‘Festival Pass’ and get access to all of the author events over the three days for just £10. The Dunoon Book Festival Organisers recently announced they were absolutely thrilled that the Makar, Scotland’s National Poet, Jackie Kay will be speaking at Dunoon Book Festival on Sunday 30 October!  And equally thrilled to announce two talented local poets, Marion McCready and Tariq Latif would be reading from their latest works at Dunoon’s Victorian Pier Building on Sunday 30 October at 12.30pm.

Dunoon Community Radio Listeners will be well acquainted with Tom Russell, DJ extraordinaire, will be at Dunoon Book Festival on Saturday 29 October with tales from his new autobiography ‘The Godfather of Rock’.14568058_196427637457882_2213298413966019020_n

Again Listeners to Dunoon Community Radio will remember Sarah’s guest two years ago when one of our favourites childrens author and illustrator, Debi Gliori visited Sarah in the studio. Debi will be back in Dunoon on Saturday 29 October at 12noon at the Pier to show us her ‘Hebridean Alphabet’.

Or all you gardeners and plant lovers, you’re going to have a lot of fun listening to Michael Allaby talk about his book, ‘Plant Love: The Scandalous Truth about the Sex Life of Plants’.

Libby McArthur will be joining us on Sunday 30th  October at 3.15pm to talk about her experience of performing, writing and directing for the stage and screen. You may know her best as ‘Gina’ from River City, but she is also really engaging speaker.

No strangers to the Dunoon Book Festival  talented local poets, Marion McCready and Tariq Latif join us at Dunoon Book Festival. This year they will be reading from their latest works at Dunoon’s Victorian Pier Building on Sunday 30 October at 12.30pm.

Meet Denise Mina and get a sneak preview of her latest work – a fictional account of the notorious Peter Munuel case. Come and join us on Friday 28 October at 8pm in Dunoon’s Victorian Pier Building.

Meet Scottish author and illustrator, Scoular Anderson and storyteller, Marie Graham for a fun session of stories and drawings.

Sunday 30 October 12.30am to 1.30pm

Scoular Anderson is one of Scotland’s foremost illustrators. He was born in Sunderland and raised in Dunoon. At the age of seven, he began filling sketchbooks with drawings, and by the age of nine was writing poems and creating strip-cartoon adventure stories.
