FRLLY AT “CEOL CHOLASA” MUSIC FESTIVAL

colonsay music logoFrlly, Argyll Country Folk Presenter recently visited Colonsay’s Music Festival “Ceòl Cholasa”. Usually held the third weekend of September each year, this year however with the Scottish Independence Referendum taking place on the 18th September the festival had been moved to the second weekend of September.

This the seventh Colonsay Music Festival ran for a full four days starting on Thursday 11th September and timed to finish just in time for the ferry on the evening of Sunday 14th September.

This one of the smallest Scottish Music Festivals has an enviable reputation of being one of the most friendly and intimate festivals and Frlly will be broadcasting a special Argyll Country Folk programme 2.00pm on the 20th September to share her experience with the listeners

Artist from the world of music joining the festival this year included DCR favourites Kathleen MacInnes, Rura and the Battlefield Band, others included singer songwriter David Francey. Bella Hardy Singer songwriter fiddle player and BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year – 2014, Mairearad Green and Anna Massie two of Scotland’s most revered multi-instrumentalists,

From the east end of Glasgow Pauline Alexander an extraordinary Scottish singer Songwriter her debut album “Thoughts For The Masses” has been featured on DCR.

Marit Fält and Rona Wilkie also included in the impressive line up of top artist who where  first introduced to DCR listeners when they won a prestigious Danny Kyle Award at Glasgow’s  2012 Celtic Connections Festival then later Rona was named BBC Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year.
