Glasgow’s Park Bar a well known popular venue for many of our DCR97.4FM listeners have released a nineteen track CD to celebrate their 50 Years of Ceilidh Music, some of you listeners may have heard DCR97.4 Presenter Ian Wison playing tracks from the CD on his West Coast Ceilidh Programme on a Monday night including a tune he wrote the lyrics for performed by his good friends Eriskay Lilt

Robert Robinson 2017

Robert Robertson who incidentally will be headlining with TIDELINES at 2017 Cowal Gathering has posted these comments about the Park Bars new CD which features a song with lyrics written by DCR Presenter Ian Wilson to a much loved Blair Douglas tune performed by Erisky Lilt

Robert says: The brand new Park Bar album (proceeds of which go to the RNLI) is now for sale on eBay and, having listened to it non stop for the last couple of days, I can recommend it most highly!

In the mid 1960s, Donald MacRae sang a song or two in an impromptu ceilidh in the Park Bar which inspired Terry Ferguson, the manager at the time, to apply for a music licence. Little did they know that Donald would be standing on the stage half a century later singing at the 50th anniversary of what has become (thanks in no small part to his own immeasurable contribution) such a legendary highland “home from home”. And what a night it was on Sunday!

Personally, I can’t imagine my last five or six years in Glasgow without The Park Bar, and this CD contains lots of memories that I will treasure for years to come…

Which is ironic considering “memory” is the last word one would normally associate with a night in the Teuchtar Triangle!
