NO SUNSHINE BUT EASTER WALK OF WITNESS LIT UP ARGYLL STREET

Although the heavens did open not with Sunshine but with rain it didn’t put of the few dozen brave souls who gathered at the gates of St Johns Church to hear the Rev Tom Elsby welcome everyone and led the assembled folk in singing Easter hymns “There is a Green Hill Far Away” and “Here Is Love” accompanied by Alison Ireland on accordion and Gordon Blair on Fiddle .DSCN7499

The assembled folk then followed the cross carried by several of the congregation in turns along Argyll Street to the Baptist Church on the promenade a much warmer and dryer than the original destination the Bandstand at the Argyll Gardens .

The Rev Tom Elsby then invited Captain John Coleman to say a few words who had incidentally earlier in the week appeared with Pastor Norman Wright on Dunoon Community Radio each giving their own Easter message, Captain John with the help of several of congregation told the Easter Story as written by apostles Matthew, Mark , Luke, John and Corinthians. Hymns sang where “When I Survey The Wondrous Cross” “Amazing Grace” and “I Will Sing The Wondrous Story” Musical accompaniment was provided by Jennie Wright on piano , Richard Reed on Guitar and Gordon Blair on Fiddle.

Ahead of his appearance at the Gospel Rally The Meaning of Easter with Cowal Baptist Church and the New Life Christian Fellowship at 7.00pm Senior Citizens Hall Alfred Street tonight Evangelist Malcolm Macpherson addressed the congregation. Those who have read his book In search Of Ancient Paths :An Evangelist’s Walk Of Faith through the Length and Breadth of Scotland will know he says it as he sees it and is now slouch when it comes to spreading the Lords words and will do what ever is required to illustrate the the meaning of his believe so you fully understand the meaning of the lord. A passionate speaker who cannot fail to leave the listener with a lot to think about even if you feel you are a devout Christian.
