LES BISHOP LOCAL MOTOCYCLE FUND RAISER

It was a really great pleasure to greet Local Dunoon Business Man Les Bishop to the Corridor last night to tell us about his forthcoming motorcycle ride from Land’s End to John O’ Groats to raise money for two charities Macmillan Cancer Support and Afghan Heroes
We let Les tell you in his own word about the trip The ride by motorcycle will take place on Monday 4th April starting out at 0400hrs from Land’s End and finishing about 14-16 hours later at John O’Groats. I am riding this alone, mostly because this is the easiest option and also because this is a very personal thing. I would not want to subject anyone else to riding this distance if they are not used to riding longer distances. Supporting this charity is important to me, my mother has suffered from cancer and been fortunate even given her years, to survive. My sister is currently undergoing treatment.
For the interested among you, my bike is a Honda Pan European ST1100AY1. I have had this bike for almost a year. It replaced one written of in an accident a year ago when a van driver turned across my path giving me no where to go and no room to stop. My previous bike had just been prepared for this same event. Fortunately I obviously survived, although not uninjured. Unfortunately the bike did not. Now though I am well enough to make this ride.
My riding experience goes way back to being an instructor with the old National Motorcycle Training Scheme in the early eighties to being involved with the IAM now as an Observer.Mentoring others to raise the standards of motorcycle riding.
