THE CELTIC MUSIC RADIO SESSIONS – LIVE FROM CELTIC CONNECTIONS

Glasgow’s annual folk, roots and world music festival, Celtic Connections celebrates Celtic music and its connections to cultures across the globe.

Between 17th January – 3rd February 2013, 2,100 musicians from around the world will descend on Glasgow and bring the city to life for 18 days of concerts, ceilidhs, talks, art exhibitions, workshops, and free events.

Amongst the 2,100 musicians are many played on Dunoon Community Radio including Donnie Munro, Joy Dunlop, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Julie Fowlis, Kate Rusby, Aimee Mann, Eddi Reader, Maggie Reilly, Eric Bibb, Dick Gaughan, Cowboy Junkies, Sharon King &The Reckless Angels, The Mavericks, Little Feat , Paul Brady, Sorren Maclean, Duncan Chisholm, Dougie MacLean, Karine Polwart, Thee Poozies, Maeve Mackinnon, Rura, Roddy Hart, Donald Black, Capercaillie, Barluath, Manran, The Chair, Alastair McDonald, Rona Wilkie,  Aly Bain ,Phil Cunningham , Rura, Skerryvore, Donnie Munro, JoyDunlop, Steve Cropper, The Animals, Martin Stephenson & The Daintees, Paul McKenna Band, Fergie Macdonald,Teddy Thompson.

And at a very special  tribute concert to Dundee born singer-songwriter Michael Marra artist including  Chris Marra, The Hazey Janes, Eddi Reader, Dougie MacLean, The Mackenzie Sisters, Pat & Greg Kane (Hue & Cry), John Spillane, Kris Drever and Musical Director Rab Noakes will appear at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

The festival is renowned for its strong spirit of collaboration, bringing together one-off line-ups for very special one night only collaborative shows. The camaraderie between musicians continues into the wee small hours at the late-night Festival Club – home of legendary musical collaborations and spontaneous sessions.

For the third year Dunoon Community Radio shall be joining our sustaining service provider Celtic Music Radio who will be  based in one of the new venues for Celtic Connections 2013 at Adelaide’s, 209 Bath Street, Glasgow.

Ross Macfadyen gets the Celtic Connections Sessions underway Friday 18^th January at 10.00am with guests and live sets including a live set from DCR favourite, Singer Songwriter Gerry Reilly from the Airdrie Songwriters Club.       Each day excluding Sunday, musicians will be visiting the outside broadcasting studio in Adelaide’s to chat and perform live on air.
