THE DAZZLING BEGINS PA23BID UNVEIL CHRISTMAS LIGHT SWITCH ON

‘Dunoon Dazzles’ – Saturday 30th November 2013

Christmas starts officially in Dunoon on Saturday 30th November 2013 with a day of festive fun when the switching on of the towns Christmas lights at 5pm shall be the climax of a fun filled day for all the family.

Once again organiser PA23BID manager Colin Moulson visited the Argyll Street Studios of Dunoon Community Radio to inform the listeners of the progress of PA23BID and to give more details of the big Christmas light switch on.

Joining 2 After 3 Presenters Margaret and Victor today Colin informed listeners of the great progress PA23BID was making and the tremendous support it was receiving not just from the retail and commerce section of the community but there was a definite buzz of expectation throughout the community, he mentioned initiatives PA23BID where looking at including a “must happen” idea for giving the Dunoon Ferry Terminal a new welcoming look so very important for a Gateway To The Highlands.

The big news of course was the aforementioned “Dunoon Dazzle” Christmas light switch on and Colin started by presenting the MC for the day Alex Pollock.

A well known face in Dunoon Alex has performed as MC for more years than he would like to recall being MC for all past  major events taking place in Dunoon and for many years Host at the now Legendry McColls Hotel-Afternoon Tea Dancers and of course let’s not forget The Kirn Gala, Alex and the late Ron Harris –what a team.  As a volunteer with Dunoon Community Radio Alex has presented as MC some of our biggest events including the Queens Jubilee and lighting of the Beacon ceremony, and this year helping to raise funds at The Happy Dayz Dunoon Stadium event.

Colin went on to tell us that the event will be starting at around midday at the Argyll Gardens when Alex will be introducing Santas’s reindeer for everyone to say hello to.

When Santa arrives he will be led up Argyll Street with his reindeer drawn sleigh travelling past the  seasonal market stalls all led by the Dunoon Grammar School Pipe Band who will lead the Santa Parade from the Argyll Gardens to the Burgh Hall where Santa shall retreat to his Grotto in the Hall ready to welcome the children.

An outside stage at the Burgh Hall will feature live entertainment with Alex Pollock compering and keeping everyone informed to what is happening.

There is to be for the first time in Dunoon at 2.30pm a free to enter Santa Fun Dash for 5 to 15 year olds who will dash from the Burgh Hall to the Argyll Gardens then at 3.00pm a Adults Santa Dash over a longer route –From Argyll Gardens to Kirn and back. Please note all Participants in these free to enter events must dress as Santa and will be awarded medals after completing the event.

A possible way of raising some funds for your favourite charity.

With so much to enjoy, including Xmas Stalls on Argyll Street, Santa Grotto, a fun Santa Dash for youngsters and adults, Family workshops in the Burgh Hall, vintage fire engines  Live entertainment at the Argyll Gardens and on the big stage outside the Burgh Hall and of course Dunoon Community Radio will be there and much, much more and did we mention 5.00pm THE BIG DAZZEL CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON  who  PA23BID manager Colin Moulsonall says along with the support of the Argyll and Bute Council and the Burgh Hall promises to be the best ever Big Christmas Light Switch On.
