Created by British illustrator Martin Handford Where’s Wally?  is a series of children’s books that consist of a series of detailed double-page spread illustrations depicting dozens or more people doing a variety of amusing things at a given location.

Readers are challenged to find a character named Wally hidden in the group.

Wally’s distinctive red-and-white-striped shirt, bobble hat, and glasses make him slightly easier to recognise, but many illustrations contain “red herrings” involving deceptive use of red-and-white striped objects

The first book was printed in 1987 and became extremely popular and were localised for many different territories, with name changes for Wally in certain regions. The franchise also spawned other media in a more storyline-based form, including a TV seriesa comic strip and a series of video games.

To help celebrate the first day of Book Week at Dunoon’s Bookpoint Wally will be visiting the Book/Tearoom at 11.00am Saturday and whilst live music is presented by Chloe Wally will be chatting to visitors to the store and inviting them to take part in the many orgainised activities.

We are keeping our fingers crossed  that he will visit us in the studio around 5pm tonight (Friday)
