A FOND FAREWELL TO ALVIN STARDUST

Alvin Stardust the “pop singer” and stage actor was born Bernard William Jewry and was known to a great many folk of a certain age performing first as Shane Fenton, Alvin’s stage and screen career spans over a half-century

In May 2011 we held an Alvin Stardust Week here at DCR97.4 to celebrate Alvin coming to Dunoon to perform at the Queens Hall and the fact that so many of the presenters are fans.

In the words of the legend himself  the “Godfather of British Rock n’ Roll” we all had a GAS so much so that every weekday since at 5pm we have Alvin introduce the station to the listeners

Prior to his Friday night concert at the Queens Hall  Alvin came along to Marshalls Furniture Store on Argyll Street to chat live on DCR97.4fm in the now “Legends Window” and to meet and greet fans including  some of the cast from Strachurs now legendry charity fund raiser “TUTTI FRUTTI TOUR with the Cowal Rock Chicks not only did he  reflect and share with us stories of his fabulous career but he demonstrate in song and  guitar playing the influences that have moulded his career.
