ENABLE SCARIEST HALLOWEEN FUNDRAISER
Written by Archie Fergusson on 31/10/2010
This years Enable Halloween Scariest Party Nite! event took on a new meaning this Halloween thanks to the efforts of Enable staff led by Hassan and his team who transformed the Bogleha Bowling Club into the set of a “Scary Movie” the likes of VAN HELSING, UNDERWORLD, BLADE AND DRACULA.
Even the grounds of the bowling club were turned into a spooky grave yard with open graves and corpse filled bags hanging from the trees complemented by spine chilling sound effects. The short walk to the entrance took you through an electric storm with screeching banshees which was only a prelude of what was to come.
On reaching the entrance you were greeted and invited inside by a seven foot red faced horned devil and his blue faced red eyed horned assistant your ticket was given to you by a Vampirette who from the blood trickling from her mouth had only recently finished her supper. The hall had been transformed into a spooky grotto which seemed to have been furnished by Frankenstein’s Lab with body parts hanging from the ceiling and displayed on the walls the cautious over 18s policy was wise even the table decorations were body parts youwould not want to touch
Top prizes for the best fancy dress resulted in a supreme effort to win the prizes with characters from the world of Folk Lore and Horror including such characters as Superman, the Joker from Batman, Cruella De Ville, Woody from Toy Story, Davie the Clown, Jack Sparrow and Pirates, the Viking, the Wicked Queen, Greek Gods, the Wicked Witches, Hannibal Lecter and they were the less scary.
From the world of horror we had Werewolves and Lycans, Vampires, Skeletons, Ghost, a very Scary Frankenstein and many Count Dracula’s one of which was our own DCR DJ Simon ably supported by Memories Sam and Step Back In Time Douglas.
Just in case anybody was getting hungry a wonderful spooky themed buffet was laid on which did not put anyone off from enjoying the Halloween fare.
The Raffle conducted by the Vampiress from the front entrance saw wonderful Prizes donated by local businesses and the community, without these prizes events such as this would not be the successes they are and all at Enable have asked us to pass on their heart felt thanks to every one who contributed and mentions will be made on Dunoon Community Radio over the next week on the Late, Late, Late, Very Late Breakfast Show 6.00pm to 7.00pm.
It seems that Enable have raised the bar on Halloween Events and we are sure that every one who attended will remember it for a long, long time to come we all from DCR certainly will!
