Details
After the tragic events off Tarbert on January 18, when the fishing vessel Nancy Glen capsized and sank, two men remain trapped in the hull in the muddy depths of Loch Fyne. Their families in Tarbert can see the buoy marking the site of the wreck. Operations are set to begin any day to recover the bodies, but – once it gets going – the recovery could take ten agonising days.
A fund to help the families has been well subscribed – but more is needed. On Saturday March 3rd, Dunoon can help.
A day of fundraising activities is being planned, culminating in an evening of some of the best bands in the area performing in Dunoon’s Burgh Hall. Representatives of Tarbert fishermen will be on there to tell how the recovery is going, and how the families are coping.
Tickets are priced at £7.00 for the Main Hall, £7.50 for the Balcony. If you can’t make it along, there is also the opportunity to make a donation of £7.00 – the price of a ticket – to help swell the funds raised.
In the meantime – think about how Cowal can help the Nancy Glen families. Cowal is known for its generosity – let’s not let the Nancy Glen families down. #Bringtheboyshome
