FOZZIE FROM CELTIC CONNECTION BROADCAST VISITS DCR STUDIO
Written by DCR on 10/02/2013
Popular traditional Scottish musician FOZZIE popped into the Argyll street Dunoon Community Radio Studios to say hello having visited Inveraray
to play a couple of weekend gigs at the George Hotel. This talented Vocalist and Musician came to our attention when he was a guest on the Celtic Connection 2013 Radio Programmes from Adelaide’s in Bath Street Glasgow broadcast live on both Celtic Music Radio 1530AM and Dunoon Community Radio 97.4FM.
FOZZIE has been in the music business for over 30 years as a professional musician playing his Traditional Scottish, Irish and Contemporary music entertaining audiances playing Guitar, Mandolin, Double Bass, Saxophone and Scots Moothie and for those that don’t know………………………………………………………………..
you play the Moothie in tradition Scottish music but if you play other genre of music you may hear it referred to as a Harmonica or even mouth organ . Fozzie has many fond memories of playing in Dunoon back in the day and looks forward to doing so again, we wonder if many of our listeners remember him?
Like a lot of solo musicians these days Fozzie the solo minstrel of modern times can be found playing at many of the countries Festivals filling the time in between entertaining in Pubs, Clubs, Weddings in fact as a musician for hire today it is basically “Have Music Will Travel” as they used to say in the Wild West (West of Scotland that is)
At this time of year there is the traditional Burn’s Night celebrations with still more to come and FOZZIE is keeping the tradition alive with traditional song, soon to heard at the Village Inn at Arrochar.
As the first of the festivals begin Fozzie will be back in Inveraray in May for the Famous Bluebell Festival appearing again at The George Hotel.
And as always if things start to get too busy there is always a “Band” lurking in the shadows made up of likeminded musicians who again “Have Music Will Travel”
Like several other professional musicians we know who support local community radio FOZZIE has promised to come back on his “way through” chat to members of our song writing group and do a wee set for the listeners in the Dunoon Community Radio Studio, we would like it if he was to come here as his destination –Anyone want to hire a solo minstrel
(And No , we didn’t ask why FOZZIE?)
