Film recommendations this week:

Annihilation (Netflix) – mind bending intelligent sci fi from director Alex Garland.  He wrote The Beach (directed by Danny Boyle and starring Leo DiCaprio) and directed and wrote the rather excellent Ex Machina. Not your usual sci fi film…prepare for weirdness and creepiness.

Spiderman: Homecoming (Now TV/Sky Movies) – if you’ve not seen it already then this is worth a watch as it’s great fun.  Tom Holland is perfectly cast as the friendly neighborhood Spiderman and Michael Keaton continues his winged creature obsession by following his roles as Batman and Birdman (great film btw) by playing the villain Vulture.  Lots of fun, good action and a great baddy.  What’s not to like?

ARQ (Netflix) – clever, low budget sci fi action film made by Netflix.  “In a dystopian future, an engineer trapped in a house and surrounded by a mysterious gang of masked intruders must protect a technology that could deliver unlimited energy and end the wars that have consumed the world.” Throw in a bit of Groundhog Day and you’ve got yourself a good little film.
