HOLY WEEK IN COWAL
Written by Archie Fergusson on 23/03/2016
As we all know Holy Week is the annual Christian observance commemorating Jesus’ last week on earth and the events leading up to his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
It is also the final week of Lent, and the week prior to Easter Sunday.
Holy Week commences on Palm Sunday and includes the Christian observances and solemn holidays of Holy Thursday (Maundy Thursday), Good Friday and Holy Saturday (often referred to – wrongly – as Easter Saturday).
Holy Week does not include Easter Sunday. Easter Sunday immediately follows Holy Week and is its culmination – a day of joyous celebration.
