IT’S A “YES” VOTE FOR THE BID
As we all know a huge effort has been made over the last couple of years to bring the business case for a BID to Dunoon and to make Dunoon a place where the public and businesses want to come to.
Here at Dunoon Community Radio we have listened to BID Development Manager Sunil Varu explaining to listeners the objectives of the BID and the advantages a successful bid would bring.
Last day to vote and send in the Ballot papers was yesterday and we have just been informed by BID Development Manager Sunil Varu that the Ballot papers have indeed been counted and the final result after a very good response was 60% of the vote for the BID.
Just posted on the BID website is this statement
Thanks to the many people who have taken the time to vote in this crucial vote and the result was announced today.
Essentially 47% of the electorate actually voted which is higher than many local government and general elections and one of the higher turnouts for BIDs across Scotland. Of those that voted, 60% voted YES and their combined rateable value was 78%.
Dunoon can begin to move forward through the BID – the businesses – taking the lead.
