MOLLY GETS READY FOR HER BIG NIGHT

You may remember a short time ago when Best Of British Unsigned celebrated it’s second birthday with host Matt Graveling interviewing Best Of British favourite Molly Smitten-Downes who will be representing the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014.
The 26-year-old from Leicestershire, who is known simply by her stage name ‘Molly’, will be performing her self-composed song ‘Children of the Universe’ in Copenhagen, Denmark in 10thMay , to a global audience of more than 120 million people.
Although DCR97.4FM will be busy that night presenting A Night of Stars, A Night of Extravaganza a Dunoon Community Radio Fundraiser at the Park Hotel we will be supporting Molly and her fellow artist competing in the Eurovision Song Contest by playing for you in the run up to the contest all the artist singing their own entries.
Listen out when Frlly starts things off by playing the Songs of the Eurovision Song Contest after 7.00am Monday 5th May then handing over to Sarah at 12 noon and Victor at 5.00pm right through with Dave de Kort, Gary deeJay and Marco.
Despite having massive viewing figures each year (estimated to be around 125 million viewers), the Eurovision Song Contest is not considered a serious event here in the UK. However, the contest launched the careers of ABBA (one of the biggest selling artists globally of all time with over 370 million sales) and superstar Celine Dion (over 200 million records sold worldwide), so with combined sales in excess of 570 million for those two artists alone. th The contest has also helped launch the careers of Brotherhood Of Man and Bucks Fizz (who went on to achieve 13 top 40 hits in the UK alone) among others. Many other famous names have entered the contest , including Cliff Richard (Congratulations), Olivia Newton-John (Long Live Love), Lulu (Boom Bang A Bang), Sandie Shaw (Puppet On A String) and Johnny Logan’s “What’s Another Year” and who can forget Clodagh Rodger, Dana, Gina G, New Seekers and the list goes on.
Gary Dee Jay will be looking at the Eurovision Song Contest with a special two part “Music of the Eurovision Song Contest” starting Monday night at 10.00pm
Molly Smitten-Downes is an up and coming Singer/Songwriter from the United Kingdom. On the 10th of May Molly will fly the flag for the UK in the Grand Final of The Eurovision Song Contest 2014.
At the 59th Eurovision Song Contest Molly will perform her song Children Of The Universe, co-written with Swedish Producer Anders Hansson. Children Of The Universe blends strings and harmonies over a pounding drum beat while the lyrics promote the universal message of love and unity.
