The Return Of Scott MacDonald

Scott MacDonald Singer/songwriter from Glasgow will be known to a lot of locals who would frequent the delights of the legendry Di Marco’s Café –Bar –back in the day. Many the night this wondering minstrel would entertain till the early hours way pass cocoa time or at least well past Marco’s.
Since those day’s Scott has become “a proper recording star “ rubbing shoulders with even bigger Recording Stars and even as the support act for many of them.
Welcome back Scott to Dunoon and welcome to DCR97.4FM Studio.
Scott plays acoustic guitar and harmonica driven music. His main influences are he tells us are Neil Young, Xavier Rudd, JJ Cale, The Clash, John Martyn and Mike Scott.
Growing up on the south side of Glasgow he first became addicted to music when he saw The Clash in concert at the Apollo in Glasgow.
It wasn’t long before he was the lead singer for a local band The Passengers before the yearning to be a real passenger took hold and it was off to Australia where after a year of playing pubs, clubs and busking he returned to Scotland to release the very collectable EP ‘Burn Baby Burn’ which featured on ‘Seriously Scottish Volume Two’ which was released by BBC Scotland.
His first solo album NEW HEART picked up 4 star reviews and gained frequent airplay.
His second album ‘WHERE TRAVELLERS GO’ was recorded by Frankie Gibbon at Wild Trax studios in County Durham and again was received very well.
It was to be nearly five years after the release of WHERE TRAVELLERS GO that Scott now living in the Highlands Wrote and recorded his latest Album SOUL CITY, many musicians were involved in the making of this 13 track Album including Martin Stephenson and four recording studioswere used most tracks recorded at Martins famous barbaraville studio.
Now back residing in Glasgow Scott is now back as a wondering minstrel
and visiting Dunoon to play at Dunoons latest eatery The Braes-you can catch him after Nine o’ Clock but we would recommend that you got there early
Some artists he’s supported include :- Seasick Steve, Bert Jansch, Martin Stephenson, Eddie Reader, Mike Peters and he has appeared at T in the Park, Belladrum, Edinburgh Festival, Celtic Connections and The Ullapool guitar festival and tonight before his Braes Gig he will be supporting Trish here on Dunoon Community Radio
