It’s was  confirmed today by John Morrison, chief executive of An Comunn Gàidhealach:

that Dunoon will host The Royal National Mod in 2018

Says John Morrison, chief executive of An Comunn Gàidhealach:

“I am also delighted to announce we will be returning to Dunoon in 2018.  We have fantastic memories of recent Mod’s on the cowal peninsula.  It’s a fantastic host town for us and we hope to engage the local community in traditional Gaelic Culture with nine days of competitions and entertaining fringe events.”

Dunoon has a long association with the Mod having been the venue on seven previous occasions between 1930 and 2012. Alasdair McCuish representing the Dunoon Mod Committee said at the announcement by John Macleod President of An Comunn Gaidhealach  “We are delighted that the Mod is coming back in 2018. We have staged it four times in the last twenty years and I think we have the hang of it now. He joked that it would be great if major Mod sponsor the Ferry Company CalMac could arrange a new ferry for the town of Dunoon by 2018.

Almost immediately planning will start and continue for the next four years to make a great  Successful Mod.

This is another great opportunity for folk to take part in this “The World’s” most prestigious Gaelic Music festival, look out for Mod Committee Meeting in the future and find out how you can volunteer and make a difference in “2018 The Year of the Dunoon Mod” and The Entertaining  Fringe Events
