TRANSPORT MINISTER HUMZA YOUSAF MSP SENDS MESSAGE TO DCR LISTENERS

As you may have heard, the Transport Minister Humza Yousaf MSP has made a statement on the future of the Gourock-Dunoon ferry service
The current service is to be extended until the end of next year
Plus, the tender process for a passenger and vehicle ferry service has been “unpaused”
Transport Minister Humza Yousaf told our Parliamentary commentator Charles Fletcher from Caledonia Media’s “The Week in Holyrood”:
“This ensures there is certainty for the future. Unpausing is the only realistic way to secure the passenger-vehicle service and letting that tender run its course.”

This is an interim report it will be followed by a final report in the spring 2018.
The current contract for Dunoon Gourock will be extended to December 2018
The application of teckal doctrine will be explored to be applied if possible to the passenger element. It says there could be a return of a vehicle carrying vessel
