Blairmore Twins Reach For The Sky For Cancer Charity

Written by on 19/08/2017

Just to let you know that Cliona and Nuala are hoping to scale their 50th Munro on the weekend of the 6th/7th September, if the weather is kind to them. currently they have raised £1000 but are hoping to add to this wonderful total by the time they descend. This photograph shows them just after they had reached the summit of Beinn Fhada in Glen Shiel, their 48th Munro.

Twins on moutain

Dunoon Community Radio would like to wish all the best to Blairmore twins Cliona and Nuala McCheyne, who this September are intending on climbing Ben Lomond which will be their 50thMunro (for the uninitiated a Munro is a mountain over 3000 feet). If that is not enough they aim to raise lots of money for the Schiehallion Ward at Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow which cares for children with cancer.

This feat is more remarkable when you realise that the twins are only 6 years old and started climbing Munro’s 2 years ago, I am sure I am not the only walker of many years who can count on both hands how many of the 284 Munro’s they have climbed.

The girls have chosen to raise money for this charity on their milestone climb because of their friend from Clyde Cottage Nursery, Alastair MacCallum who suffers with Leukaemia.

If you wish to sponsor the twins and help them raise money for this worthwhile charity sponsorship forms are available from the Observer Shop, Innellan Post Office and Basics in Blairmore or you can call the girls mother Diane on 07775963092.
