COFFEE MORNING FOR HAITI EARTHQUAKE APPEAL
Written by Archie Fergusson on 31/01/2010
Everyone involved in the Coffee morning would like to thank all that came and supported this event and helped them to raise over £1000 for the two Charities
The Ladies from Innellan and Toward Churches along with their friends will be holding a coffee morning in Innellan Village Hall on Saturday 30th January 2010 to raise funds for God’s Littlest Angels which is an orphanage in Haiti’s Kenscoff mountains not far from the capital Port-au-Prince. As Scottish nurse Susan Westwood who has been working at the orphange since 2008 explained they are expecting an influx of orphans after the earthquake and will take as many as they can. They are also expecting other people to come to them for help as they realise the orphange has some medical supplies and nurses. However, food, water and fuel is already strictly rationed so they are in desperate need of supplies. The other charity they hope to raise funds for is Mary’s Meals which was started by two brothers in Dalmally. They provide meals for children to enable them to attend school and gain an education in many of the worlds poorest countries. Their scheme in Haiti was providing meals for around 5,000 pupils daily before the earthquake this has now risen to over 12,000 many of them in Cite Soleil which is the slum area of Port-au-Prince.
Please come along to Innellan Village Hall between 10.30am and 12 noon and enjoy a coffee or tea and a cream scone for £2.50 (or more if you wish)
Our own Victor and Kim will also be there helping to serve coffee.
