MAUNDY THURSDAY AT KIRN PARISH CHURCH

Written by on 25/03/2016

Maundy Thursday in Kirn Parish saw upwards of 80 people unite to watch and participate in the wonderful depiction of The Last supper. The service was conducted by Revd.Randolph Scott, the readings by Alastair Stevenson and members of Kirn and Sandbank churches.

The twelve disciples were dressed in the same style as the ordinary people of Jesus’s day, plain linens, comfortable long robes with simple sandals on their feet. Each disciple told of his meeting with Jesus, their profound and moving faith and absolute disbelief that one of their own could betray their Lord.

We were all invited to the Lord’s table to receive communion. Alastair then called each disciple in turn as he read the MARTYRDOM OF DISCIPLES, this was an emotionally charged, excellent account of the terrible price these men paid for the faith Perhaps this is a reminder to us that our sufferings here are indeed minor compared to the intense persecution and cold cruelty faced by the disciples during their times for the sake of the Faith.
