MIGHTY EACHAIG RAFT RACE 2011
Written by Archie Fergusson on 04/07/2011
There was a certainly more than a touch of deja-vu this Saturday when word reached us just a few hours ahead of the start of the Mighty Eachaig Raft Race that for the second year running the race was to be moved to the shores of the beautiful Loch Eck even after the wettest May on record there was still not enough water in the burn. The lovely weather brought a good crowd out to see the rafts and the ducks, and for the more energetic there was a coconut shy they could try their hand at while listening to the sounds of Dunoon Community Radio.
For those who were feeling a little peckish The Bar-BQ presented three type of mouth watering Burgers.
Presenters from DCR97.4fm gave a running commentary on the afternoon proceedings as well as interviewing spectators and competitors. Frankie G ended the afternoons proceeding by entertaining the crowd with a lively Salsa Set which in the glorious sunshine went down very well. To finish off a very good day there followed in the evening a very successful Ceilidh with Local favorites Canned Haggis
